Privacy Policy
The Equator Fishing app and the website equatorfishingmaldives.com (together, "the app") are operated by Village Life Investments Pvt Ltd, GA. Maamendhoo, Maldives ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and what your choices are.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address (used to sign you in with a one-time code), your name and, if you add it, your mobile number.
- Booking details: the boat, date, time slot, trip type, party size, the contact name and phone you enter, any notes you write, and the status and price of each request.
- Device push token: if you allow notifications in the app, an anonymous token that lets us deliver booking updates to your phone.
- Crew accounts: for staff, the same account details plus the permissions an owner assigns.
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos (staff may upload boat photos from their own device), payment card details, or advertising identifiers. The app and website contain no advertising or analytics trackers.
Why we use it
- To create and manage your booking requests and let the crew approve, decline or confirm them.
- To notify you about your bookings (approval, decline, deposit confirmation, trip reminders) by push notification, email and in the app.
- To contact you about a trip you have booked.
- To keep the service secure and prevent misuse.
Who can see it
Our crew see the details of bookings so they can run the trips. We do not sell personal information and do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. Buttons that open WhatsApp or the phone dialler hand you over to those apps, which have their own privacy policies.
Service providers
The app runs on the following providers, who process data on our behalf under their own security commitments:
- Supabase — database, sign-in and file storage (servers in the Asia-Pacific region).
- Resend — delivery of sign-in code emails.
- Expo, together with Apple and Google — delivery of push notifications.
- Netlify and Cloudflare — hosting of the website. The website sets no advertising or analytics cookies; it keeps your sign-in session in your browser's storage only.
How long we keep it
Your account and its details are kept while your account exists. Booking records are kept for the business's own records after a trip. When you delete your account, your sign-in and personal details are removed and your booking history is anonymised; the contact details on an upcoming approved trip are kept only until that trip has taken place.
Your choices
- Edit your name and phone under Profile → Personal details (app) or Account (website).
- Notifications can be switched off in your phone's settings at any time.
- Delete your account under Profile → Delete account (app) or Account → Delete account (website), or email us and we will do it for you.
- You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, or to correct it, using the contact below.
Children
The app is intended for adults booking charters and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with access controls so that customers can only see their own bookings and crew access is limited by assigned permissions.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page and the effective date above.
